Rolf Härdi and Thomas Böhm at IRS 10
At this year’s edition of the 10th International Railway Summit (IRS10) world-class speakers debated the most pressing issues facing the sector: the journey to post-COVID recovery, how we can build sustainable mobility systems, and the cutting-edge innovation that can realize transformative projects.

In this session, Rolf Härdi, CTIO, Strategy, Innovation and New Technologies, Deutsche Bahn AG presents DB’s holistic approach to digitalization. From piloting value-adding applications built on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins, and sensor technology among others, to utilizing the “digital foundations”, such as connectivity and cloud services. Rolf also highlights DB’s track record of collaborating with over one hundred start-ups and being among the first railway companies to successfully bring start-up innovation into commercial operations.

Quote
Deutsche Bahn places the highest demands on its technical infrastructures. Therefore, the successful verification in this safety-critical area is an important milestone. It helps colleagues in the field and is a good step for more predictive maintenance. This will make us more digital and get more people on trains. A great success for all teams involved!
